Derek Gripper 25 February

World-renowned guitarist Derek Gripper will perform live under the stars for one night only on Sunday 25th February 2018. Drawing on European classical traditions, avant-garde Brazilian music, Malian kora, Cape Town folk, and even Indian classical music, he has created a new and beautiful guitar music which has carried him to the world`s stages including his Carnegie Hall debut in 2015.

He comes to you at Maynardville, fresh from his winter North American tour.

Gospel Classics 4  March

An explosion of Gospel Classics, from sacred to new and popular joyous tunes, sung by a choir of 20 voices with classically trained lead singers, and accompanied by a live band. End off the Maynardville Open-Air Festival with a rousing evening.

The Taming of the Shrew till 3 March

This production of The Taming of the Shrew features a historic all-female cast of Alicia McCormick, Daneel van der Walt, Buhle Ngaba, Lynita Crofford, Kathleen Stephens, Kate Pinchuck, Naledi Majola, Dianne Simpson, Ann Juries and Masali Baduza, with a special appearance by Ameera Conrad. Christmas Carols at Kirstenbosch

The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts presents four evenings of Christmas Carols in celebration of the festive season.

The Christmas-themed sing-along concert series is the flagship project of the Rotary Club of Kirstenbosch and forms part of the organisation’s annual fundraising efforts. While each evening boasts a line-up of well-known local acts as pre-entertainment, the main attractions are the Cape Town Concert Brass and Male Voice Choir, who performs traditional Christmas tunes and carols.

Think of a beautiful garden setting, in glow stick light and the melodious sound of Christmas Carols (preceded by a stunning SEQ set)… and it is sponsored by Pick n Pay. It is a fun way to get in the mood for Christmas and it also raises funds for charities in and around Cape Town.

Sterling EQ will be performing from around 18h30 until 19:30, while the carol service starts at 19:45 and the event ends approximately 21:30.

Venue: Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Rhodes Dr, Newlands, Cape Town
Time: 6pm
Cost: R25 – R125
